After a five-year hiatus from Bollywood, global star Priyanka Chopra is set to make her long-awaited return to Indian cinema with SSMB 29, an upcoming action-adventure directed by SS Rajamouli.
In a recent interview with India Today, Priyanka expressed how much she misses Hindi films and her homeland. “I miss Hindi movies and I miss India so much. I’m working in India this year, and I’m really excited about that,” she said, adding, “I have always got so much love from the fans of Indian films and I hope that continues.”
Priyanka’s last Hindi theatrical release was The Sky is Pink in 2019, followed by The White Tiger on Netflix in 2021. Since then, she has focused on expanding her Hollywood portfolio. Now, she is preparing to co-star alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in SSMB 29, a film that has been described as an Indiana Jones-style action adventure. While the complete cast list remains under wraps, the project has already generated substantial buzz among fans and industry watchers alike.
Earlier this year, Priyanka was spotted filming in Hyderabad and also visited a local temple, sharing pictures on social media with the caption: “With the blessings of Shri Balaji, a new chapter begins… God’s grace is infinite. || ॐ नमो नारायणाय ||”
Meanwhile, Chopra is currently promoting her Hollywood film Heads of State, which premiered on Prime Video on July 2, 2025. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, the action-comedy stars Idris Elba, John Cena, and Priyanka Chopra as MI6 agent Noel Bisset, caught in a race to foil a global conspiracy. The film has been praised for its dynamic storytelling and the chemistry between its leads.
