Bhubaneswar witnessed a massive rally as thousands of primary teachers marched on Mahatma Gandhi Marg to press for their long-standing demands.
The protest showcased slogans and demonstrations, and it highlighted two critical issues that teachers have raised for years.
First, teachers demanded an upgrade of the basic post with a revised salary of Rs 35,400. They argued that the current pay scale fails to reflect their contribution to the education system. Moreover, they urged the government to implement the revision without delay.
Second, teachers called for the abolition of the contract system in primary education. They insisted that all contractual service periods must count as part of regular employment. In addition, they demanded the provision of notional increments, stressing that such reforms would ensure fairness and stability for thousands of educators across Odisha.
Furthermore, reports confirmed that more than 1.5 lakh primary teachers have voiced these demands for years. The rally in the capital city once again brought their concerns to the forefront. Demonstrators vowed to continue their struggle until the government responds.
Finally, the protest created a powerful scene on Mahatma Gandhi Marg. Teachers and teaching staff united in large numbers, amplifying their voices and reinforcing their determination to secure justice.
