President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the third edition of the Indian Army’s seminar Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025 in New Delhi on November 27, 2025.
She praised the Indian Armed Forces for their professionalism and patriotism in safeguarding national sovereignty. Moreover, she emphasised that the forces consistently display adaptability and resolve during conventional, counterinsurgency, and humanitarian challenges.
While highlighting recent achievements, the President declared, “The success of Operation Sindoor stands as a defining moment in our counter-terror and deterrence strategy. The world took note not only of India’s military capability but also of India’s moral clarity to act firmly, yet responsibly, in the pursuit of peace.”
Furthermore, she stressed that India’s diplomacy, economy, and armed forces together project a nation that seeks peace but remains prepared to protect its borders and citizens with strength and conviction. She observed that the rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, shaped by technological disruptions and shifting alliances, requires India to balance strategic autonomy with global responsibility.
In addition, Murmu commended the Army’s Decade of Transformation, which reforms structures, reorients doctrines, and redefines capabilities to remain future-ready. She expressed confidence that these reforms will strengthen self-reliance and enhance India’s defence preparedness.
The President also highlighted the Army’s investment in youth and human capital through education, NCC expansion, and sports. She underlined the growing role of women officers and soldiers, noting that their inclusion will inspire more young women to join the Army and other professions.
Finally, she expressed confidence that the discussions at Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025 will provide valuable insights for policymakers. She concluded by affirming that the armed forces will continue to strive for excellence and contribute to achieving the national goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
