Tributes poured in at the 93rd birth anniversary of Pradyumna Bal, as leaders and intellectuals emphasized the need to build a society of good human beings.
At the memorial lecture and award ceremony in Bhubaneswar, Padma Shri Debi Prasanna Pattanayak stated that creating good individuals is the highest tribute to Pradyumna Bal. He urged society to prioritize values over wealth and stressed that Bal’s fearless journalism and clarity of thought remain a guiding light.
Former Chief Minister Dr. Giridhar Gamang reflected on his journey from tribal roots to national leadership. He credited his success to positive thinking and recalled Bal’s unwavering commitment to truth. Gamang emphasized that Bal’s ideals are still alive and relevant in today’s digital democracy.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KISS and trustee of the Pradyumna Bal Memorial Trust, shared how Bal’s fearless reporting once led to swift action against KISS. Despite pressure, Bal never compromised. Samanta praised Bal’s integrity and vowed to uphold his values.
Justice Manoranjan Mohanty chaired the session, while Dr. Monalisa Bal delivered the welcome address. Pragativadi Chairperson Shashwati Bal expressed gratitude and reaffirmed the newspaper’s commitment to truth and courage.
Speakers highlighted Bal’s legacy as a beacon of fearless journalism and ethical leadership. They called on youth and citizens to embrace his ideals and build a society rooted in honesty and compassion.
