Ganjam: A Sub-Inspector (SI) landed in trouble and was arrested for allegedly forging a magistrate’s signature on orders granting bail to a murder accused in the Ganjam district.
The accused SI has been identified as Surya Narayan Behera.
The arrest came after the magistrate at the Buguda Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court approached the local police with a complaint against him.
According to available reports, Behera had allegedly forged the signature of the magistrate to release a murder accused whose case was underway at the Buguda JMFC Court. Following the fraud, the murder accused was also released on bail from jail.
Later, the magistrate realised that fake orders were released, following which, he lodged an FIR with the Buguda Police.
Acting on the complaint, cops initiated an investigation and arrested Behera on Friday. He was later forwarded to the court.
