Bhubaneswar: A police team led by Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh raided the Jharpada Special Jail in Odisha capital and seized several items that are prohibited for the prisoners.
As per reports, the team conducted the raid early in the morning. As many as two Additional DCPs, all five ACPs, 11 Inspectors including IICs, and 22 SIs with four platoons of force were part of the raid.
The cops found small quantity of ganja, gutkha, khaini, bidi, tobacco products, match boxes, and lighters inside the jail. The items have been seized by police, the DCP said.
The raid comes couple of days after an inmate of the jail was seriously injured following a clash at the prison. He was admitted to the Capital Hospital here for treatment.
Reportedly, three prisoners namely Chakara, Jaga and Papu attacked Shambhunath inside the jail over some dispute. Though the exact reason behind the attack is unclear, it is suspected that the trio attacked Shambhunath over the illegal narcotics trade.
