Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana on October 11, 2025, through video conferencing from New Delhi.
The scheme aims to boost food security, enhance farmers’ income, and promote self-reliance in agriculture.
During the same event, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art wholesale fish market in Bhubaneswar and an integrated aqua park in Hirakud. These initiatives are part of a broader push to modernize agri-infrastructure and support rural livelihoods.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a preparatory meeting with agriculture ministers from across India. Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Fisheries Minister Gokulananda Mallik joined the session. Senior officials, including Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee and Shri Shubham Saxena, also participated.
The schemes will benefit over 50 lakh farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). The government has designed them to improve access to nutritious food, increase crop production, and support sustainable farming practices. This year, India recorded its highest-ever output of vegetables and food grains.
The Prime Minister will also interact with farmers during the launch. The event will be broadcast live at all Krishi Vigyan Kendras across Odisha. Union Minister Chouhan emphasized the need for self-reliance in pulses and oilseeds, urging states to adopt innovative farming techniques.
