Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which Putin shared insights from his recent meeting with former US President Donald Trump in Alaska.
The exchange comes close on the heels of Modi’s Independence Day greetings and diplomatic dialogue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed gratitude for Putin’s call, stating:
“Thank my friend, President Putin, for his phone call and for sharing insights on his recent meeting with President Trump in Alaska. India has consistently called for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and supports all efforts in this regard.”
Just days earlier, Modi responded warmly to Zelenskyy’s Independence Day wishes, emphasising India’s commitment to peace and bilateral cooperation.
“Thank you President Zelenskyy for your warm greetings. I deeply value the joint commitment to forging even closer ties between India and Ukraine,” Modi posted.
The back-to-back communications underscore India’s nuanced diplomatic posture, maintaining open channels with both Russia and Ukraine while advocating for peaceful resolution and regional stability.
