Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday responded to the unexpected resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, expressing respect for his service and extending warm wishes.
“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various capacities, including as the Vice President of India. Wishing him good health,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Dhankhar’s resignation has surprised political observers and sparked speculation across the political spectrum. The reasons behind his move remain unclear, with no formal statement issued yet from the Vice President’s office.
Dhankhar, who took office as the 14th Vice President in August 2022, has held several significant roles during his political and legal career, including Governor of West Bengal and Union Minister.
