Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Barbados for bestowing upon him the ‘Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados’ award.
In a tweet, PM Modi dedicated this prestigious honor to the 1.4 billion citizens of India and highlighted the strong bilateral relations between India and Barbados.
The ‘Order of Freedom of Barbados’ is one of the nation’s highest accolades, established to recognize extraordinary service to Barbados, the Caribbean diaspora, or humanity at large. Notable honorary recipients include King Charles III and former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.
Diplomatic relations between India and Barbados have been robust since Barbados gained independence in 1966. The two nations have collaborated in various sectors, including education, culture, and trade, strengthening their ties over the decades.
This award to PM Modi signifies the enduring friendship and mutual respect between the two countries, reflecting their shared commitment to global cooperation and development.
