Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 7,300 crore in Churachandpur, Manipur, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and infrastructure expansion in the Northeast.
Addressing a large gathering, PM Modi praised the resilience and spirit of the people of Manipur, calling the state a “land of courage and determination.” He emphasized that the hills of Manipur are not only a natural treasure but also a symbol of the people’s hard work.
Highlighting the challenges of connectivity in the border state, the Prime Minister outlined two major strategies adopted since 2014: a significant increase in budget allocation for rail and road infrastructure, and efforts to extend connectivity to remote villages.
Among the key initiatives is the Rs 22,000 crore Jiribam–Imphal railway line, which will soon link the capital city to the national rail network. Additionally, the newly constructed Imphal Airport, built at a cost of ₹400 crore, is enhancing air travel options, including helicopter services to other regions.
“These projects are not just about infrastructure—they are about transforming lives,” PM Modi said, adding that improved connectivity is creating new employment opportunities and fostering trust and hope in the region.
Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
