Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Seva Teerth, the new integrated complex that now houses the Prime Minister’s Office, marking the first relocation of the PMO since Independence.
At 2 pm, the Prime Minister unveiled the name Seva Teerth and released a Rs 100 commemorative coin to mark the historic occasion. He also inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan 1 and Kartavya Bhavan 2, which will accommodate several ministries, including Finance, Defence, Health, Agriculture, Law, and Education.
Seva Teerth consolidates three core executive institutions under one roof: the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat. Their co-location strengthens coordination at the highest levels of governance.
Officials described the project as a transformative milestone in India’s administrative governance architecture. For decades, ministries operated from scattered, ageing buildings across the Central Vista, creating logistical hurdles and coordination gaps. The new complexes resolve these issues by integrating offices into modern, digitally enabled infrastructure.
The facilities feature advanced e-governance systems, structured public interface zones, and centralised reception areas to improve citizen engagement. Built to 4-Star GRIHA standards, the complexes incorporate renewable energy, water conservation, waste management, and energy-efficient design. Smart access controls, integrated surveillance, and emergency response systems enhance security while maintaining accessibility.
Once vacated, the historic South and North Blocks will be converted into Yuge Yugeen Bharat Sangrahalaya, a public museum. The government signed an agreement with France’s Museum Development Agency in December 2024 for technical cooperation in developing the museum.
