Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his two-day visit to Gujarat on Monday with a high-impact schedule aimed at boosting infrastructure and industrial growth in his home state.

After a roadshow in Vadodara, the Prime Minister reached Dahod, where he dedicated the Indian Railways’ Locomotive Manufacturing Plant to the nation. The facility will produce 9,000 HP electric locomotives intended for both domestic use and export. PM Modi also flagged off the first electric locomotive manufactured at the plant.

These high-power locomotives are expected to enhance freight capabilities, feature regenerative braking systems, and help reduce energy consumption, aligning with India’s goals for sustainable development in the transportation sector.

At a public event in Dahod, PM Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects totaling over ₹24,000 crore. The projects span across railway infrastructure and state government initiatives, further strengthening Gujarat’s connectivity and economic potential.

Among the major launches, the Prime Minister will flag off the Veraval–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express and a new express train service between Valsad and Dahod, enhancing passenger rail connectivity across the region.
