Agra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the priority corridor of the Agra Metro Rail Project, which aims to connect the UNESCO World Heritage sites including the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Sikandra Tomb, for tourists.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the Agra Metro from the Taj Mahal Metro Station. Officials said Adityanath will also travel on a train from the Taj Mahal Metro Station to the Taj East Gate Metro Station. Agra Metro service will start operating for the general public on March 7.
At present, Agra Metro trains will be operated between these six stations. Officials said the general public will be able to travel in Agra Metro trains from March 7 by paying a fare ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 30 per passenger. These Agra Metro trains will operate from 6 am to 10 pm.
As many as 28 CCTV cameras have been installed at one station. The responsibility for the security of all the stations has been given to the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UP SSF). About 150 UP SSF personnel have been deployed at all the stations.
Local craftsmanship of Agra has been given a place at the metro stations with paintings hung there. Apart from this, selfie points have also been made.
