Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day visit to Israel on Wednesday, aiming to strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
Modi will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog to review progress in science, technology, innovation, defence, security, agriculture, water management, trade, and cultural exchanges. Both leaders plan to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the resilience of their democracies.
Netanyahu described Modi’s visit as “historic” and called him a “dear friend,” highlighting the growing strategic alignment between the two nations. In a symbolic gesture, the Israeli parliament, Knesset, illuminated its building in the colours of the Indian tricolour to mark the occasion.
The visit underscores India’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties with Israel. Officials expect discussions to realign collaborative efforts and enhance shared visions for strategic, economic, and cultural cooperation. Modi’s trip also emphasises people-to-people connections, which remain central to the partnership.
India and Israel continue to expand their cooperation in defence and technology, while also focusing on sustainable agriculture and water management. The visit is expected to pave the way for new agreements and strengthen existing frameworks.
