New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting with 21 BJP MPs from Odisha in his parliamentary chamber on Monday to discuss regional issues and developmental strategies.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister inquired about their legislative terms, sought introductions, and discussed the budget allocations for their constituencies. This meeting took place in the conference room of Sansad Bhawan.
The BJP won 20 seats in the Lok Sabha and one in the Rajya Sabha from Odisha. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party secured 20 out of 21 seats, a notable increase of 12 seats compared to their 2019 tally.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railway Minister, is the sole Rajya Sabha MP from Odisha. He secured re-election to the Upper House with the support of the BJD in February.
Meanwhile, Odisha Sambalpur MP and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with former Rajya Sabha MP and New BJP member Mamata Mohanta met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He expressed gratitude to the Home Minister for his affection and guidance.
“With Mamata ji joining the BJP family, the voice of the people of Mayurbhanj and Odisha, especially women, tribals and other backward classes, will become stronger”, said Pradhan.
Pradhan was joined by prominent Odisha BJP figures such as Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Bolangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, Puri MP Sambit Patra, and other distinguished members of the party.
