Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede that occurred near Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The incident, which took place during the distribution of tokens for Vaikunta Dwara Darshan, resulted in the loss of six lives and left 29 others injured.
In a heartfelt message, PM Modi conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. “Pained by the stampede in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. My thoughts are with those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover soon. The Andhra Pradesh Government is providing all possible assistance to those affected,” he stated.
The stampede occurred on Wednesday night as devotees gathered to obtain tokens for the special darshan, which is set to begin on Friday and last for ten days. The chaos led to a sudden rush, causing the tragic incident.
Relief operations are currently underway, with the state government and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officials working tirelessly to assist the victims. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is closely monitoring the situation and has expressed his dissatisfaction with the management of the event. He has assured that measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also extended their condolences and urged for all possible support to be provided to the affected families.
