In a diplomatic exchange reaffirming global partnerships, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted an invitation to attend the G7 Summit in Canada.
The invitation was extended by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during a phone call earlier today.
Modi confirmed the development via a post on social media, congratulating Carney on his recent election victory and expressing optimism about strengthening ties between the two nations. “Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada. Congratulated him on his election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month,” Modi posted.
The G7 Summit is scheduled to take place from June 15-17 in the picturesque resort town of Kananaskis, Alberta. Canada, holding the presidency of this year’s summit, has outlined a broad agenda focusing on climate action, economic resilience, and international security.
India’s participation as an invited country underscores its growing influence on global affairs. Modi, in his statement, emphasised shared democratic values and mutual interests between India and Canada, expressing enthusiasm for constructive discussions at the summit.
