Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Saturday, August 2.
Each eligible farmer will receive Rs 2,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as part of the Rs 6,000 annual assistance.
The announcement comes ahead of the agricultural season, aiming to boost rural livelihoods and ease financial burdens. The release event will be held in Varanasi, PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency, showcasing the government’s continued commitment to India’s farming community.
Authorities have urged beneficiaries to complete mandatory requirements—e-KYC, land record seeding, and Aadhaar-bank linkage—to avoid missing the payout. According to official sources, those who previously missed out due to incomplete verification may receive backlogged instalments upon meeting the updated criteria.
The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, stands as the world’s largest DBT initiative for farmers, marking its 20th tranche this August. The total disbursal is projected to exceed Rs 20,500 crore nationwide.
