Bhubaneswar witnessed a vibrant morning on January 4 as Patha Utsav 2026 began with grand celebrations at Master Canteen Square.

Residents gathered in large numbers to enjoy dance, music, and cultural performances.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) organised the event, converting Janpath from Master Canteen Square to Shree Ram Mandir Square into a car-free cultural zone. Families walked freely along the stretch, embracing the festive spirit.

A spectacular balloon release marked the inauguration. Colourful balloons soared into the winter sky while confetti cannons added excitement. Performers entertained the crowd with traditional Odisha art forms and modern activities such as Zumba and group dances.
The 2025-26 season of Patha Utsav aims to highlight Odisha’s cultural heritage while encouraging recreational outdoor activities. Children enjoyed a special “Kido Land,” designed to make the festival more family-friendly.

Patha Utsav has grown into a cherished tradition in Bhubaneswar. Every Sunday, the festival transforms city streets into cultural hubs filled with art, music, and community bonding. Residents and visitors celebrated together, creating a lively atmosphere.

BMC announced upcoming editions of Patha Utsav on January 18 and February 1. The January 18 celebration will take place at New Jagamara Road, while the February 1 edition will be held at Sikharchandi Road in North Bhubaneswar. Officials appealed to citizens to participate in large numbers and strengthen the spirit of community.

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan graced the event, while MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Babu Singh, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana, Additional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and all corporators joined the celebrations.
