The second day of the Monsoon Session in Parliament was marred by repeated adjournments as members of the INDIA bloc staged vociferous protests.
The opposition raised slogans and waved placards demanding a rollback of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter roll and a full-fledged discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Both houses were adjourned amid the chaos, with proceedings set to resume at 11 AM on July 23. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned the opposition’s approach, calling it “double standards.”
“They are demanding a discussion, and we are ready for it. Then why disrupt the House? This wastes public money,” Rijiju said on the floor, referring to the protest that derailed proceedings.
The opposition insists that the SIR exercise, conducted by the Election Commission ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, lacks transparency and could impact electoral fairness. Their demand for a debate on Operation Sindoor adds further pressure on the government.
