England cricket officials have confirmed that their forthcoming tours to Pakistan and Bangladesh will be the top priority over the Indian Premier League’s rescheduled matches (IPL).
The IPL 2021, which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is set to start in October, just in time for England’s tour of Pakistan and Bangladesh. In the meantime, sports betting fans will not miss anything as there will be a lot of cricket action scheduled before the end of the year.
Ashley Giles, England managing director, responded to rumors that the English team’s main players will be eligible for the Asian tours, saying, ” If those tours go ahead I’d expect them (players) to be there”.
England will play limited-overs cricket in Bangladesh before embarking on their first tour of Pakistan in 16 years. On the 14th and 15th of October, they will play two T20 matches.
They will travel to India on October 16 for the T20 World Cup, which will be followed by the Ashes series in Australia.
“None of us knows what a rearranged IPL looks like at the moment. But when we start this summer our programme is incredibly busy. We have a lot of important and high-profile cricket.” Giles told the media.
England to visit Pakistan
Meanwhile, England will play Test cricket in Pakistan, according to Fawad Chaudhry.
Fawad Chaudhry, the Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, announced that England will play Test cricket in Pakistan next year.
On Friday, the minister met with Christian Turner, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan. Cricket came up during their meeting, and they both addressed England’s upcoming tour to Pakistan for a shorter format series.
Fawad shared on Twitter after the meeting that England will come to Pakistan to play Tests after the shorter format series.
“Lovely meeting my friend Christian Turner. Extremely delighted to know that after the gap of sixteen years, in October this year English Cricket Team will be visiting Pakistan and next year again for a full test series. We have come a long way from the devastating attack on the Sri Lankan team,” wrote Fawad.
It should be noted that England will visit Pakistan in October for two Twenty20 Internationals on the 14th and 15th of the month. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that England will arrive in Karachi on October 12 and that both teams will depart for India on October 16 for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the end of the series.
Due to COVID-19, the United Kingdom (UK) has put Pakistan on its travel red-list; however, this will not affect the trip. On June 22, the national team will fly to England.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will review the situation at the end of next month, according to PCB.
From July 8th to July 20th, the Green Shirts will play three ODIs and as many T20Is as they can. The One-Day Internationals will be played as part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.
Remember that Pakistan played three Tests and as many T20Is in England last year. They flew on a chartered plane arranged by the European Central Bank.
