P.V. Sindhu Advances to Second Round at Singapore Open 2025

India’s badminton ace P.V. Sindhu stormed into the second round of the Singapore Open 2025, defeating Canada’s Wen Yu Zhang in a commanding performance on Tuesday.


Sindhu wrapped up the match in just 31 minutes, securing a straight-game victory with scores of 21-14, 21-9 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy put up a stellar fight against Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke in an intense three-game battle. After losing the first game 19-21, Prannoy made a remarkable comeback to claim the next two games 21-16, 21-14, booking his spot in the round of 16.

In other matches, Anmol Kharb put up a valiant effort against Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei, pushing hard in the second game but eventually falling short 11-21, 22-24. Malvika Bansod took the opening game against Supanida Katethong but couldn’t sustain her momentum, losing 21-14, 18-21, 11-21.

India’s doubles teams also faced challenges, with mixed doubles pairs Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Krasto, as well as Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh, bowing out in the first round. In women’s doubles, Simran Singhi and Kavipriya Selvam struggled against South Korea’s Baek Ha-na and Lee So Hee, losing in straight games.
