Kantamal police seized more than 3 quintals of cannabis during a raid in Balmatumba forest, forcing drug mafias to flee the scene.
Acting on reliable intelligence, Kantamal police led by Inspector Basudev Bhoi launched a raid near Balmatumba village under Lambasari Panchayat. The team discovered large quantities of cannabis prepared for illegal trafficking. As officers advanced, the mafias escaped, leaving behind sacks filled with cannabis.
Police weighed the seized contraband in the presence of a magistrate. The total quantity reached 3 quintals and 2 kilograms. Authorities registered a case under the NDPS Act and initiated further investigation to track down the absconding mafia.
Inspector Basudeb Bhoi confirmed that the raid involved a strong police team, including SI Prakash Bhoi, ASI Abhaya Pradhan, Havildar Manas Pradhan, Constables Bhaktaluhar and Sunil Pradhan, Home Guards Laxmikant Sahu and Ghan Sahu, along with IRB staff.
