Over 26 Naxals were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, confirmed Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
The operation, which began early Wednesday in the dense Abujhmad forests, involved personnel from multiple districts.
Security forces reportedly surrounded senior Maoist leaders based on intelligence inputs. The exchange of fire unfolded as District Reserve Guard (DRG) teams engaged the militants, marking one of the largest counter-insurgency operations in recent weeks.
This encounter comes just two weeks after another operation in Bijapur, where 15 Naxals were neutralised near the Karregutta Hills along the Telangana border. Officials believe that today’s mission may have eliminated key figures within the rebel ranks, potentially impacting future militant activities in the region.
Authorities are expected to release further details on casualties and recovered weapons as the operation continues.
