The Orissa High Court dismissed actor Anubhav Mohanty’s petition seeking to quash the case filed against him, marking a setback in his ongoing legal battle.

The case stems from allegations made by actress Varsha Priyadarshini, who accused Anubhav and his staff of subjecting her to mental harassment while she was living at his residence. Varsha lodged a formal complaint, which led to proceedings in the lower court.

Anubhav had approached the High Court, requesting dismissal of the case. However, the court rejected his plea and ruled that the trial must continue. This decision means the charges against Anubhav and his employees will be examined in detail during the judicial process.

Legal experts noted that the High Court’s order strengthens Varsha’s position and ensures that her allegations will be heard in court. The ruling also underscores the judiciary’s stance on allowing cases of alleged harassment to proceed without premature dismissal.

The development adds to the actor’s troubles, as he faces mounting legal challenges alongside his professional commitments. Observers believe the case will attract significant public attention, given Anubhav’s prominence in Odisha’s film industry and politics.

With the High Court’s rejection of his petition, Anubhav must now prepare to defend himself in the ongoing trial.
