The Orissa High Court on Friday reserved its verdict on senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi’s anticipatory bail plea, filed in connection with a ₹10 lakh bribery case linked to Bridge and Roof Company Ltd.
Justice V. Narasingh clarified that interim protection from arrest will remain in force until the order is pronounced.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered a bribery case against Sethi over allegations related to a bill clearance involving Bridge and Roof Corporation Ltd.
During its investigation, the CBI conducted a raid at Sethi’s residence, examining documents and freezing bank accounts held by him and his wife. Sethi has denied wrongdoing, alleging that he and his family are being unfairly targeted.
On July 3, the High Court granted Sethi interim relief, citing safety and procedural concerns. During Friday’s hearing, the court instructed the CBI to submit the case diary and investigation status.
Advocate Debasish Panda represented the petitioner during the proceedings.
The court’s reserved verdict is poised to carry significant legal and political weight across Odisha’s administrative circles.
