The Indian Army successfully eliminated three terrorists in the Shopian region on May 13, 2025.

Dubbed Operation Keller, the encounter began following intelligence received from the Rashtriya Rifles regarding the presence of militants in the Shoekal Keller area.

Upon launching the search-and-destroy operation, security forces faced heavy gunfire from the terrorists, triggering an intense firefight. Despite resistance, the forces decisively neutralised three heavily armed operatives. The operation initially commenced in Kulgam before shifting to Shopian, where the final engagement occurred.

The encounter comes amid a fragile ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. This follows Operation Sindoor on May 7, when India targeted nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives.

With tensions high, security forces remain vigilant, ensuring the safety and stability of the region. Officials continue to monitor the situation as Operation Keller progresses.
