As part of Operation Brahma, the Indian Navy has deployed two warships, INS Satpura and INS Savitri, carrying 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Myanmar.
The ships are headed towards the port of Yangon, extending India’s support to the neighboring nation in times of crisis.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed the operation via a tweet, emphasizing India’s commitment to regional cooperation and humanitarian assistance. “Indian Navy ships INS Satpura & INS Savitri are carrying 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid and headed for the port of Yangon,” he posted.
The aid package includes essential supplies such as food, medicines, and relief materials, aimed at assisting communities affected by recent challenges in Myanmar. The move highlights India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and underscores its proactive role in providing emergency support to friendly nations.
The deployment of INS Satpura, a frontline stealth frigate, and INS Savitri, an offshore patrol vessel, reinforces India’s naval strength in executing humanitarian operations efficiently. Officials have stated that the relief efforts will be closely coordinated with Myanmar’s authorities to ensure effective distribution of aid.
With Operation Brahma, India continues to strengthen its diplomatic and strategic ties with Myanmar while upholding its responsibility as a regional humanitarian leader.
