The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics—popularly known as Sishu Bhawan—has introduced an online OPD ticket booking system.
This initiative, launched via the Odisha Government’s health portal , allows patients to book outpatient department tickets up to 16 days in advance from the comfort of their homes.
The move comes in response to the overwhelming daily footfall at the hospital’s OPD counters, which reportedly see 700 to 800 patients each day. The new system is expected to reduce long queues and alleviate pressure on hospital staff.
Hospital authorities confirmed that during a two-day trial run, 20 patients successfully booked tickets online, signalling a promising start. The initiative is part of a broader effort to modernise healthcare delivery and improve patient experience in Odisha’s public hospitals.
