Odisha’s transformative approach to skill development took centre stage today as a high-level delegation from Karnataka, led by Dr. M C Sudhakar, Minister of Higher Education, and Dr. Sharan Prakash R Patil, Minister of Medical Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood, visited Kharavel Bhawan.

The delegation engaged in a productive dialogue with Sampad Chandra Swain, Odisha’s Minister of Skill Development & Technical Education, to explore the state’s pioneering skilling initiatives.

Minister Swain highlighted Odisha’s commitment to creating a globally competitive workforce under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. “Our new government has prioritised skilling with a focus on innovation, industry collaboration, and global exposure for our youth,” he stated. “The Karnataka delegation’s visit underscores the success of our efforts to build a vibrant skilling ecosystem.”

The Karnataka team, comprising senior officials, academics, and industry representatives, lauded Odisha’s forward-thinking strategies. They were particularly impressed by the World Skill Center, which delivers high-quality training to equip youth with future-ready skills. The delegation also commended Odisha’s emphasis on strengthening education-industry linkages, enhancing employability, and promoting inclusive growth.

Key officials present included Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, SDTE Department, Ms. Rashmita Panda, Director, Skill Development-cum-Employment, and Chakravarthy Singh Rathore, Director, Technical Education and Training. The interaction underscored the potential for cross-state collaboration to further elevate India’s skilling landscape.

Odisha’s skill development model, with its focus on innovation and global competitiveness, continues to set a benchmark for other states, paving the way for a skilled and empowered workforce.
