Bhubaneswar: Intense chill and a sharp drop in temperature have gripped Bonai and adjacent areas of Sundargarh district in Odisha, throwing normal lives out of gear.
Sundargarh district shivered under a persistent cold wave, with reports of snowfall-like conditions and frost accumulation at various places. However, a few days back, a low pressure-turned-depression brought cloudy skies, resulting in a slight temperature increase.
Fresh ground visuals from Bonai showcased disruptions in everyday lives as haze and fog coupled with a cold spell swept through the area.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that rainfall will return to the state from December 24 and last for two days. However, post-Christmas, starting from December 26, a cold wave will return and sweep the majority of Odisha.
