Delhi Police have arrested Jagabandhu Mallik, a notorious criminal from Nilagiri in Odisha’s Balasore district, for his role in a Rs 80 lakh burglary at a builder’s residence in Delhi’s CR Park area. Mallik, who hails from the Ishwarpur Police Outpost area, was caught after returning to Odisha with a portion of the stolen money.
CR Park Heist and Arrests
Police sources revealed that Jagabandhu and two associates executed the burglary and attempted to escape with the cash. During the manhunt, Ashutosh Mallik, one of the accused, was nabbed at a railway station, while another suspect fled, reportedly heading towards Bihar.
Jagabandhu returned to Nilagiri with Rs 20 lakh, which has since been recovered. With his arrest, two of the three suspects are now in custody, while efforts continue to track down the third gang member.
Inter-State Crackdown
The case highlights the coordination between Delhi and Odisha Police in tackling interstate crime networks. Authorities confirmed that further investigations are underway to recover the remaining stolen amount and apprehend the absconding suspect.
