Biju Patnaik International Airport will introduce direct flights to Abu Dhabi, bolstering Odisha’s global connectivity, in June 2025.
With this addition, Bhubaneswar now offers direct international flights to Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok, and Abu Dhabi. The high demand for the Bhubaneswar- Dubai route, launched in May 2023, suggests a similar response for the new Abu Dhabi route. This new connection will enhance access to Europe, North America, and Canada with just one stopover.
In addition, from April, Bhubaneswar will be directly linked to Ghaziabad (Hindon), Port Blair, and Goa, increasing the total number of domestic destinations from BPIA to 28, with 56 daily departures and arrivals. Notably, the airport saw a 26.9% increase in passenger footfall in 2024 compared to the previous year.
Jharsuguda’s aviation network is also expanding, with IndiGo introducing a direct daily flight between Jharsuguda and Mumbai from March 1. This service aims to improve business and economic ties between western Odisha and major metro cities.
With these developments, Odisha is steadily positioning itself as a key aviation hub, enhancing travel convenience and boosting economic growth.
