Cuttack: The Odisha Vigilance on Saturday unearthed disproportionate assets worth over 2.71 Crores during the house search of Banamali Naik, Inspector of Co-operative Societies-cum-Secretary, Regulated Market Committee (RMC), Sargipali in Sundargarh.
On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, Vigilance sleuths launched simultaneous house searches on the properties of Banamali Naik, at 5 places in Sundargarh district i.e; two triple-storeyed buildings at Talsankara Mouja (Kendupada), a double-storeyed building at Talsankara Mouja (Dengibhadi), house of a relative at Lefripada Sareikela, house at native village Kinjirikela Kukuridihi, and his office room at Sundargarh town.

Five teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSsP, 7 Inspectors, 4 ASIs and other staff conducted the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, it was learnt.
“During house searches so far, the following movable and immovable assets worth over Rs.2.71 Crores have been unearthed in the name of Banamali Naik, Inspector of Co-operative Societies-cum-Secretary and his family members,” the Vigilance said.
The properties include two multi-storeyed buildings, bank & insurance deposits of Rs.62.27 lakhs, 4 plots in and around Sundargarh town, Rs.2.98 lakhs cash and jewellery worth Rs.10.45 lakhs etc, said the Vigilance Directorate, adding that further searches are continuing an unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase as the enquiry is in progress.
