In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended ASI Tushar Nayak and Home Guard PK Sundaray of Bankoi police outpost in Khordha district while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The bribe was allegedly demanded from a local resident to remove his name from a case diary, effectively shielding him from legal action. Acting on a complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught the duo red-handed during the cash exchange.
Following the arrest, a raid was conducted at ASI Nayak’s residence, where officials seized relevant documents and evidence.
Ironically, Nayak had previously been felicitated for his “notable service” by the district police. Both officers are now under investigation, with legal proceedings in progress. Authorities have yet to release further official statements.
