Odisha Vigilance has arrested Dhruba Charan Sahu, Clerk-cum-Accountant of Lakhanpur Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) in Bargarh district, for alleged loan fraud involving public money amounting to Rs 31,47,685.
Sahu is accused of misusing his official position to manipulate financial records and embezzling funds collected as loan repayments during the financial year 2019-20. By falsifying the Day Book and showing reduced closing balances, he siphoned off a substantial amount, betraying the trust of the public.
The case was registered under Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station Case No. 2 dated March 17, 2025, under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Sahu has been forwarded to the Hon’ble Special Judge Vigilance, Bargarh, for further legal proceedings.
An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the irregularities, the Odisha Vigilance said.
