In a groundbreaking move, the State Government of Odisha has announced a special initiative aimed at empowering tribal youths by training at least 50 candidates to become commercial pilots.
The Commerce and Transport Department has meticulously planned this ambitious program to provide opportunities for the tribal community to soar high in the aviation industry.
The initiative will begin with the shortlisting of 300 eligible tribal candidates from across the state, out of which 50 will be selected through a series of aptitude tests and personal interviews. To ensure thorough preparation, a Professional Training Agency will be hired to conduct preliminary screening and preparatory training for the shortlisted candidates in Bhubaneswar over an eight-week period.
The training program will cover a wide range of topics, including basic English, personal development, self-improvement, grooming, aviation English language proficiency, basic aviation knowledge, human performance and limitations, aptitude and psychometric tests, group discussions, interview preparation, and portable simulator training.
Upon completing the basic knowledge training, the 50 selected students will undergo a final round of selection conducted by two private airlines, Air India and Indigo. From this final round, the top 10 students will be chosen for technical training to become professional pilots.
The state government’s initiative aims to uplift and empower tribal youths by providing them with the necessary skills and training to pursue successful careers in aviation.
