The Odisha Government has announced the launch of Subhadra Shakti Bazaar, a dedicated marketplace to promote and sell products manufactured by Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida during the Assembly session on Saturday.
The first Subhadra Shakti Bazaar will be established in Bhubaneswar, followed by similar outlets across all 30 districts of the state. The initiative aims to provide a permanent platform for SHG women to showcase their products, expand market access, and strengthen the Lakhpati Didi movement.
Highlighting the success of the scheme, Parida revealed that Odisha has already created 16.36 lakh Lakhpati Didis, though none have been identified in urban centers like Rourkela. She also shared that in the fiscal year 2024–25, the state government extended loans worth Rs 17,454.74 crore to 3,52,738 SHGs, underscoring its commitment to inclusive development.
The Subhadra Shakti Bazaar is expected to become a cornerstone of Odisha’s women-led entrepreneurship ecosystem, aligning with the broader goals of Mission Shakti and the Viksit Bharat vision.
