Odisha is set to host the State-Level Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2026) at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, from January 21 to 23.
Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik described the event as a “grand confluence of awareness and prosperity” for fish farmers and livestock rearers.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the conclave, while Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati will grace the valedictory session. This year’s theme is “Innovative Interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha.”

- Participation: 8,164 fisheries and livestock farmers, including 26 representatives from each block.
- Awards: 348 successful practitioners from subdivisions will be felicitated; 20 departmental officers will be honoured for notable achievements.
- Panel Discussions: 12 interactive sessions with national and international subject experts.
- Ask the Minister: Farmers will directly interact with Minister Mallik to raise queries.
- Exhibition: 208 stalls across three hangars showcasing modern technologies, departments, and companies.
- Live Demonstrations: Two open hangars featuring bio-floc technology, cage culture fish farming, high-yielding cross-bred cows, and advanced poultry systems.
- Special Attractions: Murrah Buffalo Bulls “Surveer” and “Inder” from Haryana, Punganur Cow from Andhra Pradesh, Kankrej Bull from Gujarat, virtual reality farm tours, dog show, pet fashion show, selfie zones, poultry experience zone, pet zone, kids zone, painting exhibition, drone show, and laser show.
- Walkathon: From Kalinga Stadium to Janata Maidan on January 21 at 6 AM.
- Competitions: Debate and painting contests for students, with prizes awarded during the conclave.
- Cultural Evenings: Folk and classical performances including Sambalpuri, Dhemsa, Odissi, and Chhau. Singers Ananya Sritam Nanda, Barnali Hota, Diptirekha Padhi, and Swayam Padhi will perform on different days.
Vision and Impact
Minister Mallik emphasised that the conclave aims to make Odisha self-reliant in milk, meat, eggs, and fish production. He highlighted that the event will sensitise farmers to adopt modern technologies and innovative practices for enhanced productivity.
Senior officials, including Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Director AH&VS Bijay Amruta Kulange, and Director of Fisheries Mohammad Saddik Alam, attended the press meet, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening the fisheries and livestock sector.
