The Odisha Government has greenlit its Food and Paddy Procurement Policy for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26, setting an ambitious target of 93 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy—equivalent to 63 LMT of rice.
The procurement window spans from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, with Kharif procurement scheduled between November and March, and Rabi procurement from May to June.
Only farmers registered on the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department’s portal will be eligible to sell paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Aadhaar will serve as the sole identity proof for e-KYC and payment authentication. Farmers will receive advance notifications via SMS or WhatsApp about sale dates and quantities.
To ensure transparency, the government will conduct 100% field verification using satellite imagery. Milled rice will be used in the Public Distribution System (PDS) and welfare schemes, while surplus stock will be routed to the Central Pool via the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for distribution in deficit states.
This policy reflects Odisha’s commitment to institutional transparency, digital governance, and food security.
