The Odisha State Warehousing Corporation (OSWC) handed over a dividend of Rs 81,59,845 to the Government of Odisha for the financial year 2022–23.
Cooperative, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Pradip Bal Samant received the dividend at his office in the presence of senior officials.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Cooperation Department Rajesh Prabhakar Patil and OSWC Managing Director Mihir Prasad Mohanty led the presentation. Moreover, several senior officers, including Siddharth Das, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Usha Rani Das, Additional Secretary Bishnupriya Sahu, and Finance Advisor Smita Anjali Swain, attended the ceremony.
The corporation reported a total profit of Rs 5,43,98,965 for FY 2022–23. Out of this, 30 per cent was declared as dividend, amounting to Rs 1,63,19,690. Consequently, the dividend was shared equally between the two stakeholders—the Government of Odisha and the Central Warehousing Corporation—each receiving Rs 81,59,845.
Established in 1958, OSWC has steadily expanded its operations. Today, the corporation manages 68 warehouses across 30 districts with a total storage capacity of 5,21,600 metric tonnes. Furthermore, its efficient utilisation of storage facilities has ensured consistent profitability, enabling regular dividend payments to stakeholders.
In the previous financial year 2021–22, OSWC distributed Rs 3,40,64,105 as a dividend to each stakeholder. Similarly, during 2019–20 and 2020–21, the corporation paid Rs 4,36,31,251 each to the Government of Odisha and the Central Warehousing Corporation.
Therefore, the latest dividend reflects OSWC’s continued financial strength and its vital role in supporting the cooperative sector and state development.
