Frustration among police Sub-Inspector (SI) exam aspirants has intensified as no fresh date has been announced for the examination, which was cancelled twice following the question paper leak.
The ongoing CBI probe into the case has yet to show visible progress, leaving candidates uncertain about their future.
On Thursday, SI exam aspirants staged a sit-in protest at Gandhi Marg under the banner of Students Against Corruption. The protest aimed to remind the government about the pending exam and the status of the investigation.
Organisation convener Bibhuti Bhushan Mahapatra alleged that the government has forgotten about the SI exam. He warned that if authorities fail to announce a new date immediately, larger protests will follow in the coming days.
The group further demanded that the CBI conduct a thorough investigation and arrest senior officials involved in the alleged irregularities. They argued that stopping the “sale of jobs” requires accountability at the highest levels.
Aspirants pointed out that despite the recruitment notification being issued in 2024, no exam date has been finalised even in 2026. They said this delay raises serious questions about the government’s efficiency and commitment. Mahapatra added that the repeated cancellations and uncertainty have severely impacted the mental state and future prospects of lakhs of meritorious candidates across the state.
