Odisha experienced a sharp drop in temperature as six cities recorded below 10°C.
G. Udayagiri reported 7.4°C, Rourkela 7.7°C, Jharsuguda 8.1°C, Semiliguda 8.6°C, Kirei 9.3°C, and Daringbadi 9.5°C.
Bhubaneswar recorded 13.5°C while Cuttack stood at 13.4°C.
Jharsuguda registered the lowest night temperature at 8.1°C, marking the coldest November night in the city this season. Residents felt the chill intensify across western and southern Odisha, with foggy mornings and biting winds adding to the winter atmosphere.
Meteorological officials confirmed that the drop in temperature signals the arrival of a stronger cold wave. People in the affected regions began using woollens and heating arrangements to cope with the seasonal change.
The cold wave in Odisha highlights the state’s climatic diversity. Daringbadi, often called the “Kashmir of Odisha,” continued to attract attention with its sub-10°C reading. G. Udayagiri and Rourkela also stood out as cold pockets, reinforcing the spread of winter across multiple regions.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded relatively higher temperatures but still reflected the seasonal shift. The capital city’s 13.5°C reading and Cuttack’s 13.4°C showed that the chill has reached coastal areas as well.
