In light of the intense heat wave gripping Odisha, the state government has announced revised school timings to ensure students’ safety.

Starting April 2, all schools in the state will operate morning classes, according to a statement by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.

The decision also extends to Anganwadi centres, which provide essential early childhood care and education. The revised timings for Anganwadi centres are as follows:

  • Centres with their own buildings: Operating hours have been changed from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM to 7:00 AM–9:00 AM.
  • Centers in school classrooms: Hours are now from 7:00 AM–9:00 AM, instead of the previous 7:00 AM–12:00 PM.

Additionally, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has directed electricity authorities to avoid power cuts during peak heat hours (11:00 AM–5:00 PM) and nighttime hours (9:00 PM–6:00 AM) to help residents cope with rising temperatures.

This proactive approach aims to safeguard the well-being of children and ensure uninterrupted power supply during critical periods of the day.
