The Odisha government has approved the creation of 840 new posts to staff 56 newly sanctioned courts at the Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-Judicial Magistrate First Class level.
As per the official notification, the sanctioned posts span a diverse array of roles including 56 Civil Judges, Head Clerks, Bench Clerks, Stenographers, Junior Clerks and Typists with computer proficiency, Copyists, Process Servers, Peons, House Orderlies, Sweepers, and Night Watchmen. These appointments will adhere strictly to the Odisha Revenue and Valuation (ORV) Act and related recruitment guidelines.
The newly created posts will be funded from the state budget allocated for the fiscal year 2025–26. A formal communication from the Law Department has already been issued to the Accountant General to facilitate the staffing process.
This decision is seen as a proactive step by the state government to improve access to justice and reduce judicial backlog, particularly in districts where court infrastructure has been limited.
