The Odisha Government reviewed the Gangua Nala development project at Kharavela Bhavan under the chairmanship of Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.
The meeting focused on strengthening stormwater management in Bhubaneswar and improving the surroundings of Nicco Park.
Legislator Babu Singh, Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, BMC Commissioner-cum-BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana, and senior officials attended the high-level review. The minister directed officials to accelerate the Gangua Nala development works and deliver visible changes before the upcoming monsoon. He emphasised coordinated efforts to restore the nala, ensure clean water flow, and enhance recreational and social facilities around Nicco Park.
Usha Padhee highlighted the need for coordination among multiple agencies engaged in the project. Chanchal Rana presented details of ongoing works, challenges, and proposed timelines. The minister instructed officials to resolve pending issues quickly and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe with quality standards.
The review underscored the importance of the Gangua Nala project in creating a safe, clean, and accessible urban environment for Bhubaneswar residents. The government aims to integrate flood management with urban beautification, ensuring both safety and community benefits.
