The Odisha government has reserved 25% of seats in private schools for underprivileged and economically disadvantaged children to provide them access to free education.
A transparent online portal for applications will be launched on March 18, 2025, to facilitate this initiative, as announced in a directive issued by the Directorate of Primary Education on Thursday.
To ensure convenience and timely processing for students, the Paradarshi Portal’s launch date has been advanced from the earlier scheduled April 3 to March 18, 2025. According to the government’s guidelines, school registrations and document verification will be completed by March 31.
From March 18 to April 20, the first phase of student registration (applications) will be open. Document verification for the first-phase applications will take place from April 3 to April 23, followed by a lottery-based school allotment on April 24.
Subsequently, the first phase of enrollment in schools will occur between April 25 and May 7. The second phase of registration for enrollment will begin on May 26, with eligible students able to enrol in selected schools starting May 27. Any remaining students can secure admission through a cut-off list on June 10, as per the directive.
This initiative aims to bridge the educational gap for underprivileged children, ensuring they have access to quality education in private institutions and promoting equity in Odisha’s education system.
