Odisha Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj today urged government officials to fully adopt Odia for all official work, stating that the state government is committed to making the mother tongue the primary language of administration.
Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of a training camp titled “Official Work in Odia Language”, organised by the Odia Language Institution under the aegies of the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, the Minister said, “Our government is determined to conduct official work in Odia. This training camp has been designed to enable officers to prepare file notes, draft letters, issue orders, and smoothly carry out all administrative tasks in Odia, including in the OSWAS system. I expect the officers who have received this training to apply it in their workplaces and ensure all administrative functions are performed in Odia.”
The day-long camp provided hands-on training to officers on office correspondence, communication proficiency, and preparation of official documents in Odia. Resource persons Dr Ramesh Chandra Mallik and Dr Debashish Mahapatra guided the participants.
More than 100 officers from 13 different government departments took part in the programme.
During the ceremony, three publications brought out by the Odia Language Institution – Shishulekha, Barnamala Alochana, and a biography of Bijay Prasad Mahapatra – were unveiled. All participants received certificates from the Institution.
