Post offices across Odisha—including those in Bhubaneswar, Khurda, and Balasore—have suspended operations today to implement a major software upgrade: Advanced Postal Technology 2.0.
The Bhubaneswar Postal Division announced that the temporary closure aims to replace the outdated SAP-based system that has long caused transaction delays and data sync issues. According to Tapas Kumar Das, Superintendent of Post Offices in Balasore, the newly developed software is designed to improve workflow efficiency and provide a more seamless experience for both staff and customers.
“This upgrade will streamline operations, minimise delays, and enhance our service quality,” Das stated, adding that the software will be fully operational by Monday, August 4.
The Department of Posts has appealed for public cooperation during this transition, reassuring citizens that services will resume normally tomorrow with improved functionality.
The overhaul marks a milestone in the department’s commitment to modernising government services, reinforcing its role as a digitally forward public utility.
